Hi, Have not been to Alaska yet, go the 29th of August but if you are leaving from Seattle there are several places you can have salmon sent home to you, go the the Pike Market Place where they do the flying fish and they will mail for you, also the store washingtons best or some of the great restaurants.Ivars salmon and chips on water front will mail you salmon but their clam chowder is to die for,I always have packs in the freezer. If I hear of anything else I will let you know, unfornately I get back the day you leave so if I did find something in Alaska it would be too late.

Best shopping for Salmon would probably be in Ketchikan. There are a number of places there that do it. Yummy!!

Happy cruising,

Thanks for the suggestions! We were going to do the sportsman fishing in Ketchikan, but I was told the cost for the salmon license $20, plus for the excursion, plus the shipping home made the cost per pound very expensive....and that was if you caught anything! I would rather do other excursions and just purchase some and send it home for cheaper.

There are shops in Ketchikan and in Juneau that will ship salmon home for you in special packages. I have done this several times.

When you get off the ship in Juneau there is a salmon factory that processes fresh fish every day from the local fisherman. They are located near the cruise ship dock on the left side of the street prior to the main shopping area. They are just before the cable car that goes to the top of the mountain. They will pack salmon in dry ice and ship anywhere. If you purchase in Juneau it will probably beat you home so unless you have someone at home to receive it you might want to wait until Ketchican......
