San Juan Hotel

Just wanted to pass along the Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel in the Condado section of SJ -- We just stayed there en route to our cruise, and it was terrific. We paid $169 for 2 double beds and a rollaway (2 adults and 2 teenage kids) booked directly through the hotel. (Priceline wasn't helpful this time, perhaps because it was Easter weekend.) Anyway, they put us in a brand-new room on the beautifully renovated 6th floor Concierge Level which included a lovely continental breakfast in the penthouse Club. We have stayed in some incredible DUMPS in SJ, at seriously inflated prices, so we had no idea this would work out so well. Hopefully this will help someone!

I'll second that recommendation. The Concierge Level lounge is very pleasant. It was really neat bypassing the standard hotel desk and being checked-in in the clubby atmosphere.

I think the cab ride was 10 or 15 minutes, going slow due to rain and traffic. Less than 2 miles, I 'm pretty sure.

Radisson Ambassador is in the middle of the Condado neighborhood, which is much closer to Old San Jaun than, say, the airport area.

I must confess.....I son't know which pier Celebrity uses as I was on Carnival that time and no Celebrity ships were in that day. We were docked right there by the Wyndham Old San Juan; RCL's Adventure of the Seas was farther up the channel, but regardless, all of them were approx the same distance from Condado.

I have cruised out of San Juan three times and stayed at the Condado area once before a cruise. The other 2 times times I stayed at the Isla Verde area. I much prefer the Isla Verde locale to Condado even though it's a bit farther from the pier. I would not hesitate to stay at the Wyndham El San Juan Resort again.

There are so many good choices in San Juan even though during high season the price is higher than your cruise. LOL. Of course that's not true, but rates are high. We stayed at Embassy suites last cruise in Nov. Service was great, afternoon free cocktails and complete morning breakfast added to our pleasure. Also like the Hilton Caribe, but it's very pricey. Just some more thoughts for you.

The Condado Plazxa Hotel is wonderful! It has a wonderful ocean lagoon for swimming.....right in the city ...........don't forget to go to Tony Roma's across the street...and if you like to sample local cuisine....go to the Hacienda Cafe just 2 or 3 blocks down from the Condado Plaza hotel...wonderful food and great ocean view tables..........
