San Juan Question Re: Radisson Ambassador Hotel

I have been bidding on Priceline for our post-cruise stay in San Juan. Pre-cruise, we want to stay at the Sheraton OSJ, but post-cruise, I was a little more open. Seems like there aren't a lot of good deals to be had on Priceline, but I just kept trying about once a week or so, and I finally lucked out. We got the Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel & Casino for $80 - not too bad.

So, has anyone ever stayed here or does anyone know anything about this particular hotel? I am curious what is around it, what they thought of the hotel, any tips or suggestions they could offer, etc. The hotel description says it is 100 yds from beach - is this pretty accurate? Any other information anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I live in San Juan, and worked near the Ambassador Plaza, it is a nice hotel and has a good Casino. It's walking distance for the other Hotels and nice restaurants, It is located in one of the best parts of San Juan. the beach is like 10 minutes walking.... Pharmacies and sotres are at the same distance.... the Hospital is like 3 minutes walking..... it's a good deal...

Another hotels I can recomend:

OLD SAN JUAN: El Convento Hotel, Sheraton Old San Juan...

SAN JUAN; Caribe Hilton, Marriot San Juan, Condado Plaza (wyndham).

ISLA VERDE BEACH AREA: El San Juan Hotel, Ritz Carlton, Hampton Inn, Intercontinental Hotel

Juanotero - Thanks so much for your response. That is good to know. And thanks for the other hotel suggestions. I actually just recently booked the Sheraton Old San Juan on Hotwire for $86 for our pre-cruise stay - I wanted that hotel specifically for before our cruise. So, after the cruise, we will be at the Radisson Ambassador. I am looking forward to eating some "Filete al Caldero" at Ajili Mojili while we are there after the cruise. We ate there when we stopped in San Juan on a cruise a couple of years ago and it was fabulous.

You should also try to eat at Dragon Fly in Calle Fortaleza, Old San Juan. They cook a very special kind of food, it is a mix of Latin Food with Asian Food. They call it Latin-Asian food. For example, Nachos with sweet n sour duck, carne frita lo mein, stuff like that..... Its very nice and prices are not that expensive... This restaurant is like ten minutes walking distance from the Sheraton Old San Juan.

This is an article of the restaurant on consierge, com

We stayed at Ambassador pre-cruise in late 2003 and liked it just fine. We were on the Ambassador Club floor (or whatever they called it) and the personalized check in/out service was very nice, as was the continental breakfast.

Location was very good, felt safe at night, etc. Ambassador is in Condado area, built up mid-1900's, and the buildings reflect that. Not as charming as Old San Juan.
