Port stop #7 is Santo Domingo and E had to do some digging to get the snuff on this port of call since we have never been here before. We arrive at 9AM and depart at 4PM.

Better known as the Dominican Republic this island is BEST know for its ALL Inclusive Resorts. With the short time in port it may be wise to opt for a ship based tour here if U are ready to explore. There are quite a few museums and sights within walking distance for those with a LOT of energy.

If U are a bit MORE adventurous then perhaps the links below will lead U in the right direction. As of this time we have a ship sponsored tour booked on a Deluxe Beach Resort Tour thru Princess -

Deluxe Beach Resort With Lunch

It goes to the
Barceló Capella Beach Resort. Here is another Link to the actual resort pages ...

One of the main concerns of MANY at this stop involves contacting a disease called Cholera. While there is concern it should be noted that this disease is primarily contacted thru contaminated water sources. The rule of thumb in prevention is wash your hands regularly and drink ONLY bottled water. For those following the recommended preventions there is little chance of contacting this disease. Here is some more info on Cholera for those interested in reading.

Einstein, after looking at the links and especially the "virtual tourist" I think this is a very interesting stop.
I am interested in seeing the Catedral.
and perhaps Columbus house.. that they say is the most visited.. but not sure on that one, as it was actually rebuilt from rubble in the 1950's

the Columbus Lighthouse sounds interesting, as is Old town.

and as for cholera outbreaks, you can get it in India, Africa, the Dominican republic, Mexico and even now and then in America etc.

If you travel to Mexico you are warned about the water, yet we have all been there several times. You just exercise good sense no matter where you are.

I would stick to the bottles stuff.. sodas or beer. That is no different than I do when I am Cozumal etc. unless you are sure of where the water came from
