Hi There!
We are also cruising on the Sapphire Princess the week of our 6th grader's Spring Break, March 18th...This will be my ninth cruise, hubby's seventh, and our daughter's sixth. It is our first time with Princess, and we are excited to see what they are like compared to our favorites (Celebrity and Holland America)...
We are San Francisco Bay Area natives, and have lived near Flagstaff Arizona for over eight years now; it is VERY cold up here at 7000 feet, getting down in the single digits most nights--days have been in the upper 30's to low 40's, so we LOVE to cruise in February or March!
We have booked an outside room on the Emerald Deck, and our TA tells us it is appx. 185-190 sq.ft...if this is, in fact, the size, then great! We have been spoiled several times with balcony rooms, but opted to go for the outside picture window this time and use the extra $$$ to pamper ourselves and do some more at port.
Can't wait to go, we are driving the 7 hours to Long Beach, and have booked a "park and cruise" at the Holiday Inn Long Beach, with includes undergrown parking for the week, continental breakfast, bottle of champagne, and r/t transfers to the ship and back...cost is $149. plus tax--and I like this idea better than leaving our auto at the Cruise Terminal for $12 a night.
I hope to meet more people who will be coming with us on March 18th!!!

Thanks so much for the response!!!!!

We are actually in Kansas, and surprisingly the weather this winter has been good to us, but we're still anxious to get into that nice, sunny warm weather!!!:)
This is our 3rd cruise. Our first one was for our honeymoon in Jan., 2003, then our 2nd was for our 1 year anniversary, and this will be our 3rd! We have cruised with Princess everytime, so let me tell you that you are going to have a blast!!! We cruised on the Grand Princess the first time, and the GOlden Princess the second. I do not have a bad thing to say about this line, and will probably never cruise with anyone else!!!
We are on the Caribe deck I believe, with a balcony room! We normally get the mini-suite w/balcony, but like you we opted just for the balcony room so we can spoil ourselves at the spa, and the ports!
We'll be flying into LA the day before the cruise just to relax and not rush around. Getting very excited for it to hurry up and get here!

Nice to hear from you and happy cruising on the Sapphire!

Hi, My husband and I will be on the cruise. We are bringing our son and his friend. Both are 11 and really looking forward to sun and fun. This is our 3rd princess cruise. We did the Diamond last year, (Mexican) and liked it so well, we did it again this spring break. Our son made so many new friends and had a blast. (Our son's name is Ridge and his friend's name is Dakota.) Maybe our children will meet up in the kid's area!!

We're from southern Idaho and it's way cold here too. We've had sunshine the past few days, but it's still freezing! We can't wait to get some "loungin' in the sun" going!!!

Take care....Teri

Welcome Terri! My eleven year old daughter is Marlaina, and she LOVES cruising and the kids programs onboard--we are so very excited!

Per call to Princess, this cruise is officially "sold out"!!! Wow, we are going to have quite a party!

Only 36 days to go, and I'm ready to start packing...Don't forget to get that formal wear out and to the Dry Cleaners!!! lol, I call one particular box in my closet my "cruise box," for it holds the things that I always take on cruises.

Can't wait!!

Hi, Marjorie,

I told my son about your daughter and he is looking forward to meeting her at the kid's club!! He's pretty social, so he enjoys meeing and "hanging" with other kids.

That's a great idea about the "cruise box". I will start one, as I have stuff scattered all over that I'm always tearing the house apart looking for!!!

I'm an "air-force brat" and my father was stationed at Williams AFB outside of Chandler AZ when I was younger. (Back in the 70's) There wasn't much out there but melon and onion fields, but I've been told it's wall to wall homes clear to Mesa and Phoenix now!!

Can't wait for 'Cruise TIme" either!! It's horrible to want time to pass quickly as it usually passes quickly ANYWAY!!! But I'm so ready for vacation time!!

Take care. Teri

Hi Teri!
I, too, was always running around the house looking for those little "things" that I basically only take on cruises or vacations, lol...so I JUST started the "cruise box" after my last cruise! Sure am glad that I did...oh, and I bring a couple of plasic bags (kitchen garbage bag size) to put all of the "dirties" in after they are worn; I also like to try and do a load of laundry on the ship, but let's just say that is why I take the bags along, hehehehe...that usually ends up being just a good intention!
Our first cruise we were on a very strict budget; so, we filled one carry on suitcase with four six packs of beverages; I think we had two six packs of soda, and two of water; anyhoo, I padded it with a huge beach towel, and it made it from Phoenix to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, with only one bottle of water opening! Then we used the suitcase to put all of our new things we purchased in the Caribbean! It ended up working out really well...the next cruise I did not do this, and had to purchase one of those "folding suitcases" to put our souveniers in!
Well, enough tips on packing, I am just so excited for March 18th to come! Take care, and hope to meet you onboard! :)

Yeppers, Rachel, only 11 days! I have, indeed, begun to pack--and, like you, I am also putting things next to my suitcases. My 11 year old daughter, Marlaina, is already almost finished packing! But she was lucky enough to get to buy almost all new clothes for the trip, as the stuff from last summer no longer fits...so, she took the tags off and packed them straight into her new purple suitcases!

We will be celebrating one year since my precious daughter survived a very serious car accident--she broke nine bones on her right side, including her nose, femur, open fractures of both bones in her arm, three ribs, a hairline fracture of the pelvis and another hairline fracture of her back at T7...she was in the hospital for two months, and in a wheelchair for four months...Today, you wouldn never even know she was in a serious accident, unless you see the scars on her arm and legs...she does NOT want plastic surgery (yet), as she puts it, "Hey, I'm proud of my scars! I fought a two ton vehicle, and won!" So this cruise is VERY special to our family...She doesn't know that they will be bringing her a cake on Friday, and we will be very happy to celebrate this milestone.

Bon Voyage, everyone!!! Have fun packing, and hope to see you onboard the lovely Sapphire Princess!

Marjorie,

Hi, We spoke earlier about hoping our kids met up. (We have the 11 year boy named Ridge.) When I read your message above, I was shocked that your daughter had experienced such a horrible thing and so pleased that she is doing well.

Last week, (Wed) we lost our 25 year old daugther. They say she had a weak area in her heart and just had an infaraction (heart attack). This has been an overwhelming, devastating thing for us, but our son has especially, taken it so hard. We are doing better day by day, but are hoping that this trip will be the solace that my son ( and us) need to get things a little more normal. We know that God loves us, and that our "Sissy" doesn't want us to be greaving all the time. So each day, we try and greave less and to think of all the good things and memories about her. It is hard.

So, I want you to know that we are also thrilled to have our child Ridge with us, and hope to make it a special cruise as well. Teri

Dear Teri,
My heart goes out to you...I sent you a private post, I guess that you will recieve notification of it.
May you and your family find comfort in your Faith, and I will keep you and Ridge in my thoughts and prayers! I know what it feels like to almost lose a child; to actually lose one must be simply devastating!
Please know that I am sending positive energy your way! And let me know if there is anything, anything at all that I can do to help you get through this time of sadness. Feel free to email me, my email address is included on my post.
Again, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and may this cruise be a time for happy memories and also for making new ones. Ridge will get through the grief; kids are so resiliant! That is one thing I learned going through the accident with Marlaina.
With prayers and good thoughts,
Marjorie and family
