Scary night at our house tonight....

After dinner tonight, Gordon and I started watching a recent CSI:NY show he had taped. It was about murder and mystery in a supposed haunted house. Shadows in the hallways, secret walls, that sort of thing. During the scary spooky show Kiefer let me know he had to go out in front of the house. As we were walking around the old neglected truck across the street (no houses across the street, just a empty hillside) Kiefer suddenly started smelling the door of the truck, and got a really concerned look on his face, and immediately started pulling me away. I turned around and looked at the cab of the truck, and I could swear I saw the top of a hand on the dash! Scared the hell out of me!

I ran in the house and told Gordon, "I swear I saw a hand in the truck." Yeah, right, but I insisted I did! But instead of calling the cops, I figured that MAYBE the woman next door knew there was someone in her truck, so I called her. She marched right out side, with the phone to her ear. I could see her look in the window, look again, and then rap on the window.

Long story short, some guy was asleep inside. She told him off and he got out. Meanwhile, Gordon had gone out and they both stood there while the guy spouted off his sad story. (His mom had thrown him out! He had to be in his 30's!) I was standing in the dark kitchen watching out the window, but before he left, and when everyone else was back in their houses, he looked straight at me and shook his fist at me and was yelling something I could not hear.

I still have a creepy feeling along my spine. That was just too weird!

So you threw out a poor homeless guy, shame on you. lol.

That had to be scary. Glad you were OK. Keep an eye out so he doesn't come back. Keep Kiefer close!

Between Kiefer, a good home security system, a cell phone and a permit to carry, you should be OK.

Creepy for sure - do either of you know who he is? I would keep a mental note or physical picture of him - - - just incase anything does come up.

Glo,

Should have let Keifer chase him off the street. Nothing like a mad dog to leave a lasting impression.

Calgon,

Glo lives near San Francisco, unless you are Barbara Boxer you don't get a carry permit in that state.

But here in PA, we believe in the right to bear arms and to arm bears (makes hunting season more interesting). BUt nothing beats a dog for security. I always tell the alarm companies when they call, if they can break in and survive the dogs, I'll buy an alarm system. And I still have not had to buy one.

Let me tell you guys about Kiefer. He is a sweet little 19" tall, 45 lbs sweetheart, who gets scared when the doorbell rings. Oh, he barks up a storm, and his bark is mighty indeed, but he stands at the top of the stairs when he barks his head off. He will go down to the door if I tell him to, but it's always one of Sara's friends, and he's happy to see them. My friend who is ex-PD is licensed to CCW, and it's weird when we go out to know he's armed. But comforting!

Thank Goodness you are OK..., and just be very careful.....Dogs can be the best deterrent..

Mark, and DS Stephen never worried when we had Scooter.. Mark was working in Manhattan, and DC for a couple years when in my Parents firm..the distance finally was the killer to leave..he was home only 36 hours a week!! and one of the things about our late Scooter.. 135 pounds of barking can reach your shoulders on his feet and CHOMP... sure scared the crap outta a ton of folks...never would have been broken into..just his growl was sufficient!!..

Take good care Glo...=hugs..Joanne

My friend has a bull mastif and a rottie who love me to death. If he didn't, I sure would think twice about just walking into her apt!

Stay safe! My "bird early warning system", two gray cockatiels, start barking before the dogs do. From outside the house, the sound is enough to convince a stranger to keep moving.
