personally I wouldn't do it, traffic is terrible and we had a friend get really hurt trying to manuver thru the streets on the scooter. If you do try it, you better have good insurance.
We too thought about it. After reading some of these other posts about scooters, I figure you are taking a big chance. We decided not to do it., and it still was enjoyable. Although, once you get out of the main traffic mess, I would think it would be OK. Well, best of luck on the decision. Have a super time.
We were just in Cozumel and we just walked out of the shopping area at the new port and there were some guys there that were renting scotters. We really enjoyed being able to go around the island and do our own thing. The only place that we really ran into traffic was in town. All I can say is just be an agressive driver. The rental was 35 for all day for one scotter for the both of us. It all just depends on how you feel. If you do not feel comfortable renting then don't do it. They make you wear a helmet while you are ridding but when you are in town you do not have to have one.
No problem renting a scooter in port. They have a number of differant vendors, some scooters better then others. If your going to the beaches on the east side of the island its a great way to travel. Navigating downtown can be dicey. Go for it, have fun!
Thanks for the comments. I drive the streets of New York every day so if what you say is true then this should be cake. One more thing should I reserve a scooter on line or wait till I get in town.
