St. NAZAIRE, 24 October 2008 - MSC Fantasia - the largest ship ever built for a European shipowner - successfully continues its sea trials.

Today at 6:30 pm MSC Cruises's flagship will leave Penhoet Quay of the Aker Yards France shipyard to reach the Forme Joubert dock. From here it will depart for 48 hours' sailing in the open sea. The ship is scheduled for return to the shipyard on the afternoon of Sunday 27 October.

Four tugboats will be used to transfer MSC Fantasia to the Forme Joubert dock and about 400 people will be involved during the sea trials.

Once the sea trials and interior fitting are completed, the flagship will be delivered to the shipowner on Saturday, 6 December. On the same day, the flag-changing ceremony will take place. MSC Fantasia will leave the St. Nazaire shipyard on Tuesday, 10 December and will head towards Naples where the ship's godmother, Sophia Loren, will christen it at an event planned for Thursday, 18 December.

The new flagship of the MSC Cruises fleet is 333 metres long, 38.8 metres wide, 66.8 metres high and with a gross tonnage equal to 150,000 tons (projected data). The new ship will launch a new sea holiday concept: it will be the first ship featuring an exclusive VIP area - MSC Yacht Club - with 99 luxury suites, dedicated common areas, reserved access to the onboard MSC Aurea SPA and a special service with true English-style butlers to cater for guests' every desire.
