Seattle is one of those great cities with super hotels and they are often are expensive. We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a resonable rate and then you can go up from there. The Plaza is sort of downtown closer to the freeway and not really a great walking area.
You budget is really the qualifier.
You have the "Chains" up around the space needle and a more friendly tourista area and of course the Edgewater Hotel right on the water (where the Beatles fished out the window) and all sort in beteeen.
So..I would recommend you have a look on the net sort of figure out your budget or where you might like to base yourself and if you come up with a hotel you think is in your ball park I could do a little research for you. We have friends that stay in Seattle quite often and they do all their shopping for Hotels on "Hotwire" pick a 4 star or more in the general area where you want to stay and you really can't loose.
