Seattle Hotels

We are flying into Seattle the night before sailing & will need a hotel. Can anyone tell me how far the airport is from the piers? Would you recommend staying at the airport, or is there a hotel closer? Yes, we are leaving Princess and moving to the Infinity. We hope its the right move.

The airport is quite aways south but as is normal in a larger city the airport hotels are less expensive than downtown. Seattle is a great city to spend time in and has lots of great hotels at lots of higher prices. We have stayed at several chain hotels near the space needle and the Crowne Plaza at a good rate. Our friends in Seattle use hot wire to book and have always been pleased with the hotels.
You can not go wrong with the Infinity as far as I'm concerned. We are also sailing on her this summer to AK. Lucky us get to stay with friends at this departure city.

When we were going on our Alaskan cruise this past May (2008) we flew up one day early and stayed at the Weston by the docks. We used our American Express Star Rewards points and didn't pay a cent for the room. They put us on the 29th floor and we had a killer view of the space needle.

BTW, we DIDN'T cruise with Celebrity, we did when we took the Mexican cruise a few years ago and quickly decided to NEVER cruise with them again...this time we did NCL...LOVED IT!

We're crusing the "Infinity" the first week of September and stayiing 2 nights at the Seattle Sheraton. What can you tell me about this hotel. What's the best way to get there from the airport - shuttle or taxi?

The Sheraton is a convention type hotel in the middle of downtown. My wife and I have stayed there numerous times. It is quick cab ride to the ship but I would do the shuttle from the airport. A cab ride will be a bunch more expensive. Airport is about 20 miles south and if you hit traffic in a cab (hard to avoid) you could really be hit with a whopping big bill. The shuttle is one price/no matter how long.

Another option is a town car which are only a few dollars more than a shuttle (http://www.seattletowncars.com/) and you don't have to wait while everyone else on the shuttle gets dropped off and picked up. I use them to get to the airport when I have really early flights that my wife doesn't want to get up to take me to.
