first of all i want to tell you that you are in for a wonderful and memerable cruise. alaska is a cruise that you will never forget.
i went last sept 11 and had a fantastic time. the prices are cheaper because it is a shoulder month and the sales in the store and on the ship were great. i am going again next may. you dont say. but i hope you are going to glacier bay. it is unbeleavalbly stunning and a sight too see.
the weather we had was pretty normal according to other posters and this is what i took and was very comfortable wearing.
the first thing i want to stress is==dont go out and buy alot of new clothes for this cruise. it is a more relaxed dress code cruise and what you have in your closet will be fine , unless of course your clothes are full of holes, really tatored and dirty. and i highly doubt that. so dont stress out and break the bank buying new clothes.
of course you will want to be glitzzy and dressed up for formal nite but other wise i just wore-- jeans, sweaters, turltlenecks, nice pants with tops for casual nite in the dining room, a sweat shirt and a nylon (lite weight ) hooded jacket. i found this at walmart for
$ 10 in the sporting dept at walmart. very good looking and the perfect weight.
i also had a very light weight pair of gloves and ear band for the glacier bay days and did not need them. but i would take them along.
good kaki's, dress shirts, tops, casual dresses, pants and tops are perfect for this cruise. and very comfortable shoes that are broken in.
of course i was on the roundtrip out of vancouver. if you are going farther north you might want to have a somewhat warmer jacket but that depends on your cold tolerance.
and elastic bands in your pants are a plus. the food is irrestistable and the waist will expand as the week goes on.
so eat up, have a wonderful time and choose the tours that will interest you the most. take along lots of film and money and you will have the cruise you will never forget.
