Embarkation: This was a breeze. We were at the pier by 11:00 AM and were the first to board. We were having lunch by noon. Having spoken with several others on board the general consensus was the lines move very quickly. I must admit it is much better than Miami of Fort Lauderdale.
Ship: The ship is actually the nicest we have sailed. This was our 9th cruise. The interior was extremely clean and the smaller public rooms made the ship feel much smaller than it actually was. The centrum was much smaller than ships not as large as the Serenade. The use of glass is outstanding and the elevators mid-ship all had ocean view.
Cabin: we were in cabin 8656 with a balcony in the aft section of the ship. The cabin was spotless and our cabin steward was the best kind, he was always around and yet we hardly saw him. It only took 1 day for him to figure out our habits and morning schedule. The ice bucket was always full and the room was kept spotless every day and evening. We actually tipped him extra.
Food: The dining room was beautiful we were at table 451 second seating. It was a table for six. I would have preferred a larger table but it was fine. Our tablemates were great. The only problem with a small table is that everyone ate at the specialty restaurants at least once leaving us alone 1 night which was actually fine with us. We used room service 3 day for breakfast and ate out on the balcony. Lunch was mostly Windjammer and the Seaview café. The Windjammer was very good and we definitely saw improvement from other RCI ships. The Seaview Café was great. The menu was quite extensive and contrary to what we have read. Overall the food quality was good.
Our dining room waiter was ok. The service he provided was excellent. However, we could not connect with him. He seemed to have everything scripted and when you asked a question it really seemed to throw him off.
Portifino’s was over the top with service and the food quality was a bit above average. Coming from Rhode Island it is hard to find better food and service in an Italian restaurant. After all it is hard to beat Federal Hill. We would recommend Portifino’s. Just make sure that you want to spend 2 hours having dinner.
Chops was by far the best of the two. The quality and service was the best of any steak house I have ever been to.
Entertainment: We only went to two shows and enjoyed them. We do not cruise for this reason and cannot give an accurate review.
Bars: Every bar we visited we had excellent service. Our favorite was the Schooner bar. Joanne and John were entertaining and kept us laughing every night.
Ports of call: This is a port extensive cruise and perfect if you want a lot of activity. We walked around St.Thomas. In St.Maarten we went to the Sunset Beach bar near the airport. All I can say is WOW. A must see. Antigua we walked around and ate lunch. St. Lucia was beautiful and the trip to the Pitons was amazing. In Barbados we stayed on the ship and enjoyed the quiet. The sea day was the best and the Captain took us to Monserrate and we saw an eruption from the volcano. This was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed. The rest of the sea day the Captain took the ship close to many of the smaller islands and spoke extensively about their history.
Disembarkation: This was also smooth and unhurried. You did not get the feeling you were no longer welcome like some other cruise lines.
Overall: This was the best cruise we have ever been on. We liked it so much that we booked a Junior Suite for the same sailing next year.
