Thanks so much Steve. I think we will do as you did and take the ship's excursions. Sounds a lot easier. Thanks for the tips as to which tours are the best.

If anyone else has done this cruise, could you also reply and tell me which excursions you found the best and worst , etc. and why. Since the excursions are so expensive (for a family of 4) we would hate to take a bad one if we can avoid it.

P.S. My daughters were in Florence 2 summers ago and feel they know Florence enough to take us around. (I was there as well 25 years ago) Is it possible to just take a bus to Florence ( with a side trip to Pisa) on our own with no tour?

Also I think we may just do Nice and Monte Carlo on our own as well. Is a bus readily available for transit to Monte Carlo from the Nice port?

This cruise is doing Mykones instead of Corfu- is a tour needed here and which one is recommended?

We will do tours for Barcelona, Rome, Naples(Pompeii and Amalfi Coast), Athens, probably Mykonas and Santorini,  and maybe Venice.
