In Cozumel you'd probably be ok to go by yourself....if you are the adventurous type.We didn't always take Carnival's excursion...however, we've found it's so much easier for us now when we do. I agree with cruise fly....there is some comfort and peace of mind in taking the ones offered by the Cruiseline.If you are going someplace like Chankanaab National Park in Cozumel...I believe a taxi will take you from the ship there for about $7.00...make sure you secure the price before getting in the taxi though. We spent several hours at the park and then had the taxi drop us off at the far end of the shopping map (end closest to Chankanaab) and walked back towards the ship. We got tired about half way back and it was about $3.50 to taxi back to the pier.
