Shopping for camera in St Martins

Hello everyone

Thinking about buying a new Digital Camera. We are cruising the Eastern Caribbean in May. Can I find deals in St. Martin? I'm thinking a good deal is 20% less than buying it in the U.S.

Thanks

Beary,
Last year I found pretty good prices on cameras at Music Man at 20 Front Street in St. Maarten. If you go there try and talk to the wife of the owner, she is very good.

If you are going to ST. Thomas... I would go to the main store of Royal Caribbean, I have found with some dealing... you can get excellent deals... the price may be the same as a number of stores in the Caribbean but you can quite often get more thrown in with the deal..

Hey...

Just to let you know.. My boyfriends parents just came back from St. Maartin (they cruised RCCL Adventure) and bought a 3.5 pixel camera (with ALL the accessories) there for $285. I went here to Best Buy and seen the exact camera priced at $400. Yes.. take advantage and shop away.. I heard the deals there on virtually everything is MUCH better then here.

I disagree, shop and buy online BEFORE the cruise. You will then have the camera to use during the whole cruise, you can take your time shopping, it is easier to compare prices online, there is no "bargining" to go thru, and you will probably find a price that is equal or less to what you could get on the cruise. Not to mention returns and warrenty issues would be easier to deal with online than with a store on a small island far away.

You do know about price comparison web sites for cameras, right?

Also, www.stevesdigicam.com is an excellent resource for reviews and prices.

Use caution. We had looked for a digital camera before our trip, and had found a canon at a locally owned cameral shop for $260. The lowest we found in ANY port was $285. Would have been comparably priced because of saving on the tax, but we would rather know that we had someone locally if we had a problem. Do your homework before you go, and you may find a deal!

This is sound advice. I already have an old digital camera but now that I'm more familiar with them, I was thinking of something of higher quality. I will do my homework. thanks.
