We are sailing Sept 18/04 on Millie. Does anyone have any comments regarding the shopping on Millie?

Nothing too special in my opinion. Just like most other cruise ships. Deals every few days on jewelry, amber, logo clothing, watches, etc.

There are some upscale shops not found on all cruise lines or ships. H. Sterns is one which will have Llardro and fine jewelry at competitive shore side prices. Also, there is on shop/section that specializes in Michel Roux merchandise including Cognac and his Stove!

I would have to agree with those who say nothing special. After 15 cruises we have found the same things on just about every ship. Good Lladro selections appear on most lines as well as at least 1, if not more upscale jewelry shop and the selections are not as good as many of the ports. We kept our criuse shopping to logo type of things and the fun, cheap watches etc. They did have a wonderful selection of Amber jewelry, but way over priced compared to what you get in DRepublic. Just our views; it's still fun to wander around and see if anything appeals to you.

Thanx for the info. When we sailed the Ocean Princess in 2001 the jewellery was 50% off on the first day but nothing special to speak of. Any suggestions about shopping in the Medi ports for specialty items. We are sailing from Venice to Barcelona on Sept 18/04.

Rome: 18 kt. gold. Allow plenty of time for looking around. Pisa or Florence: leather- a small backpack pocketbook is a great souvenir for about $25-30. Also gold. Barcelona or Palma Majorica; Pearls
Have a wonderful cruise. I am anxious to do that itinerary some day in the exact direction you will sail. We did Amsterdam to Genoa on Millie during her inagural in 2000. It is very port intensive so plan you days at port wisely. The tours that give you transportation and just some "tour" in Rome, etc. but several hours on your won are the best recommendations. You have the safety of the transper and the guides knowledge then time to do things that you like and want to do.
Bon Voyage

The shopping is pretty much what you should expect on a ship. You can find what you need and find what you don't need but want... the diamond necklace!

I remember on my first sailing (Cunard with Harrods) being very disappointed that there wasn't a whole Harrods onboard..... then I learned the specifics of cruising. There will be necessities of hairspray and toothpaste (and anti-acids, etc), and expand-o luggage, but if you want a mall you better wait until you are off the ship.
