Although I have never been to Orient Beach, I have twice gone from Phillipsburg to Marigot (French side). Both times, in the area by the sea that resembles a town square, there were stalls with handi-crafty souvenirs and even some home made pepper sauces. There were other gift stores all within walking distance, and really great restuarants reasonable priced.(If you're a little adventurous, you can pull into one of the supermarkets on the road between Phillipsburg and Marigot, and shop for unique international (packaged) foodstuffs. For example, brands from elsewhere in the Caribbean and a lot of Indonesian goods (the Dutch connection).
