hello every one i was wondering if everyone thats been on a cruise with rccl could help me out with a suggestion or two,do you suggest go with the boats excursions meaning make your reservation through the boat or wait till you get there(at the island) and and plan your own,FYI this is for a first timer and im just wondering if it would be cheaper to wait till you get there or if it is the same price personally im thinking make the reservations with the boat and it would be one less thing to worry about but then again im wet behind the ears when it comes to cruises .

Depending on the port, how many ships are there and the tour it is, I would book it ahead of time as the good tours sell out. I dont want to spend my time in certain ports looking for a tour. :) Your time is limited there.

If you want to go to the beach, then I would take my own taxi there and back. If you want a generic city tour, negotiate the price up front, taxis are a dime a dozen. But then again, it all depends on what port.

Ship sponsored tours will be a few bucks more. I call that an insurance policy. If you run into problems, traffic jams, flat tire etc and are on a ship tour, and are running late to the ship, the ship will wait for you.

If you are doing a private tour and are late to the ship, get that elbow and credit card moving. You will be waving good bye and you are responsible to getting back onto the ship. Yes this does happen.

Most people will do a private tour in the morning allowing plenty of time to get back to the ship on time. Keep in mind you have to be back onboard 30-60 minutes prior to the ship is to set sail.

I personally would book through the cruise line. Like suer said it is much less stressful because you have fewer worries if you dont make it back in time.

~Better to be waving back from the ship not to the ship!!

Hope you have a fun time on your cruise and i hope you have the vacation of a lifetime.

Does anyone know whether there are any excursions available yet to Harrison caves in Barbados? I have heard that they are to re-open in November. I will be sailing on the Serenade of the Seas on December 8, 2007.
