Anyone here know how to sign up for any shore excursions for Endsenada Mexico? In all my 7 cruises I don't think I've ever booked one.

I was on the Ecstasy in July. We did not book an excursion. We just weren't real interested in the excursions offered in Ensenada. We just took the shuttle downtown, shopped and had lunch. However, I know that you can book your excursions on the ship and I noticed that once you got off the shuttle downtown there were a few people offering excursions to the Blowhole (La Bufadora). There is not a whole lot to do there. I believe you can either take one of the La Bufadora/shopping excursions or you can do some horseback riding on the beach there. I can't really remember too many other things to do there. This is not the most exciting port, but it was a fun weekend cruise spent with my daughters and their friends and moms. Hope you have a great time!

We were just in ensenada last weekend on the 3 day RCCL Monarch of the seas...We just walked off the ship, found a tour company that took us into the city for 6.00 and then we paid $24.00 for 2 of us to go see "LaBouradora" which is the main tourist site there. We got a tour out to the blowhole, 1 !/2 hours to shop there, and then a mexican lunch buffet (excellent authentic food) at a local spot in the city and an hour to shop there as well. It was very pretty out by La Boufadora...we got some gorgeous pictures. It was alot cheaper than the ships excursion, plus we got lunch.
Have fun!!

Don't get me wrong...I live in Southern California and I spend a lot of time south of the border and love every minute of it...that said, not everyone likes Ensenada. I've been there off a cruiseship before with people who hadn't been there and they just turned around and got right back on.

IF you find you're one of those people...my suggestion is: take a cab to a hotel called Las Rosas for lunch. It's only about 5-8 minutes north of town and is a small but elegant hotel with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the bay and ocean. They're very friendly there. I think if you have lunch then meander down to use their pool they don't even say anything (if you're not a huge group and don't look like you'll tear the place apart!). There were 8 of us, and they didn't say a thing.

Another option is to take a cab to the Hotel Coral...same direction a little closer to town. There you can have lunch by their pool overlooking the marina. If you're a huge boat lover, this is where Americans stash their expensive boats for months and months in order to avoid paying the US luxury tax so you can walk down to the marina and ogle some VERY expensive boats.

The drive to La Bufadora is very pretty...and once you get out there, the view is pretty too. I've always been disappointed by the blowhole itself, but if you're into buying really, really, cheap Mexican trinkets, this is the place to do it!!!!! Blocks and blocks of little booths. On the weekends, it's also a nice place to soak in a little Mexcian culture since Mexican families seem to make it a family outing destination.

The beach in town is Estero Beach...it's about a half hour drive from the ship. There they have boat rentals, jet skis, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Last time I was there (about 2 months ago) I realized there's one side (the left facing the water) that's less crowded than the side facing the open ocean. I'd try to stick to the left. :)

There's also a wine country not far from Ensenada...but I'm not sure about arranging for a tour on Saturday. If you're into it though, there is at least one winery right in downtown Ensenada. Haven't been there so can't recommend it.

Have a great time!

I was there, and I agree there is not much you can do, but depending on the timeframe you have you can search and go either "La Bufadora", rent a horse, do some kayak. Last time we found a small operator that toked us to do rapelling at "La Misión", we enjoyed the experience a lot, but it takes at least 45 minutes driving, about 30 to reach the rapel station from the campground, and at least 2 hours to take the lesson and do the rapel at least 2 times. I've got a business card (preety card) they have a website www.bajaexcursions.com it has not changed since I visited, but they are good answeing mails, get in touch withem.

Total adventure trip was little less than 5 hours for the entire trip, we were afraid to be left at the shore, I think it will depend on how many hours you have, but if you do not have at least 5 do not go this way..
