Carnival doesn't allow you to prepurchase shore excursions like Royal Caribbean does. I've sailed on Carnival 3 times already and my next cruise is on the RCL Voyager of the Seas. I like the fact I can order my shore excursions online prior to boarding with RCL. When you get on the ship with Carnival you can go to the 'shore excursion desk' and pick up a shore excursion listing and pick your excursions and drop them in the box they have there. First come first served so your best bet if you want to do a Carnival shore excursion is to reserve it early. We do independent tours instead now (our 1st Cruise we did cruiseship excursions) since we know what we want to do and have been cruising awhile.
