Should I cancel Conquest tomorrow?

I am thinking about cancelling the Conquest which leaves 8/19. Carnival has changed all the ports for ships which were supposed to go to the western caribbean but didn't for the Conquest. All they have done so far is "drop" Jamaica and hope for caymen & cozumel as scheduled. I know the storm changes everything but I feel if they drop a port they should replace it. RRC Rhapsody(which has the same ports) already replaced MB with Key West. My theory is that Carnival sees this as a chance for "Sea Day" so they can keep everyone on the ship spending money. Also what will we get if GC or MX is not able to take the ships after the storm, "7 fun days at sea"? Maybe I should bail out now or chance it...... Any help???

You know, I am leaving next weekend on the Triumph, and if I was in the same position I would not cancel. I am not sure how long you have been planning it, but we have been planning for a while, and I am going no matter what. Its still a vacation, and you have been planning it I am sure. Cruising this time of year is always risky. You honestly cant be to surprised this happened.

Hey! I'm leaving next weekend on the Triumph! And...I, too, would not cancel. For one thing, it's our honeymoon (albeit five weeks after the wedding). But, also, it's still a cruise vacation and you know you'll still have fun. Or maybe you don't know that, and that's why you're thinking of cancelling. I know we would still have fun!

Dokken, your " theory " is surely right. Carnival can make a bundle by keeping everyone on board for a day or two. You should cancel immediately
because I doubt that you will be happy whatever they have to do in the face of a major hurricane. :wave

I dont see 7 days at sea-- you probably wont know until you get to the pier what ports you will visit.

This is a chance one takes when we book during hurricane season. There were reasons why this cruise was cheap. This is the height of the season-- and into sept for those that booked then too.

You must be able to go with the flow.

we sail next week- I for one would not want to go to ports that are cleaning up after a hurricane/flood etc. If Jamaica is hit as hard as it sounds like it-- i hope for a change.

I am trying to justify peoples anger with ports being changed and or cancelled. Pi$$ed off at the cruiselines and want money back, etc.etc.
Do people really want to go to these ports no matter what??
Do they realize how rocky the waters will be sailing into hurricane waters??
I for one want calm seas and if we have to sail around the bad weather-- Captain-- please do so.

Just think you can blame the cruise line for the weather and after all is said and done you will probly get your money back and a 50% discount on your next cruise even though you still had a 7 day cruise even if it was on water and no ports. What would I do? rethink when I book again and than say heck with it and lets go party, remember, " a bad vacaction is still better than a good day at work"

I would not cancel. If I booked during hurricane season, I would have in mind that things might have to change due to the weather. As many have already said, your not at work, it's a vacation, make the best of it no matter where you port or if you have 7 sea days. OH WELL! Did you not plan to spend any money in port? I'm sure you will not spend a lot different on board as you would in port.

Someone once make the quote on here:
"Your Worst Day on a Cruise is Better than your Best Day at Work"
I have this posted in a frame behind my desk at work where I see it every day.

Go on your cruise and have fun.

Did the decided to go?

I know Jamica was taken off the itinerary but who would want to go after it just had a headon hit. We are from Louisiana and we are STILL fixing up after Katrina and Rita and that was in 2005. I hope when we go they atleast cancel Jamica on ours just for safety reasons.......
