Should we fly into Orlando or Melbourne?

I will be going on the Glory in March with a large group and will be flying from either San Jose or San Francisco. Can anyone tell me which airport is better to fly into? I've heard Melbourne is closer to Cape Canaveral but have never seen anyone post any comments regarding it, only regarding Orlando. I need to book airfare soon and would like some advice on this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I've looked at the website for Arts Shuttle and notice that they service both areas.

Thanks!

Melbourne usually has very overpriced fares. It's really no closer than Orlando as Orlando is a straight shot on a major toll road all the way to the port (no secondary roads to travel). I can't even fly to Melbourne from Tampa without having to route through Orlando or Atlanta if that gives you any indication of what's going on at Melbourne.

Unless you get a spectacular fare for Melbourne I would definitely go with Orlando.

On your end, what about Oakland? I fly to the Bay Area quite a bit from the east coast and always find the best fares in/out of Oakland.

Have fun with your planning!

Thanks for the info. Actually, San Jose has had the best fares so far and I've looked at San Francisco, Oakland, Fresno and Modesto. I will definately book our flights from here to Orlando.

When are you taking the GLory? I will be March 20. Take the airfare that is cheaper, distance-wise Orlando or Melbourne is close.

Hi Camelia,
We'll also be on the Glory March 20th. We're going with a group of 20. Looks like we'll be going into Orlando after all. I found great rates lastnight for $232 out of Oakland and went to book this morning and the rates went up to $432!!!! I was not happy to say the least. Looks like we'll be waiting to book until the rates drop again... I hope! See you on March 20th!
