Shuttle Transportation from Anchorage to Whittier

Hello fellow cruisers,

I'm taking the Diamond Princess out of Whittier July 10, 2010 to Alaska. My family is arriving in Whittier the day before. We want to book our own hotel for 1 night and shuttle service to the Diamond in Whittier.

Any suggestions for hotels or transportation service?

The Glacier Discovery train runs from Anchorage to Whittier. $65 per person. Here's a link to their web site.

Thank you for the information about the train from Anchorage to Whittier, it looks wonderful. Do you happen to know any hotels that are close by the train? We are flying into Anchorage, need to find transportation to our hotel and then to the train. My mom is in a wheelchair, so that adds another issue to our traveling.

How close is the train to the Princess cruise terminal?

Anyplace downtown would be close to the train. The Westmark is pretty nice and prices pretty well. It is owned by Holland America. I would much prefer the train to the bus.
