If you want whale watching I would do that out of Juneau not Skagway. I would go with Capt Larry at Orca Enterprises in Juneau for that. Ketchikan is a great place for fishing. I have seen many people have good luck with fishing there. I personally liked the White Pass Railway but you can do other can be more active.
