Can anyone tell me if there is a skippers club or vip check-in at the port in Ft Lauderdale Fl, if so, how does it work? We were there last March and there was no skippers club or vip check in, even though our tickets and boarding pass said there was. We went to the check in counter and the folks there had no idea what we were asking about, even though, it states it is available to cat 12 and 11 guest. Just wondering what magic it takes. lol

thanks for the reply, only thing is, the folks running the check in last year had no clue. We were directed to stand in the same line as everyone else, (no problem), upon entering the terminal, there still was no one who knew what we were asking about and what it said in the little book that came with the tickets and what is on the front of our ticket booklet. It is no big deal but if it is a perk for a larger cabin and cost, and they say they have vip check in, who knows about it? I can tell you that the folks running the check in last year sure did not.

Head many reviews taht state the same thing-- but sailed the Liberty for Valentines day and you have to keep asking until someone gets you there.

We arrived at pier 19 at 10:30 and the line was as long as the building. Haivng a person with the skippers club-- he just asked someone standing at the door and they took us in-- (just put us in the front of the line in front of all those people. ) took us to a check in which took all of a few moments then we had to sit in another room and wait til the ship started boarding.
Once that area opened all the other people that were waiing outside were then led in.. and where we checked in WAS the skippers club.

(if you walk all the way to the area where there is about 50 check in clerks-- you bypassed the skippers area. that area will only have 5 check in people

We sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale in December 2005 on the Carnival Legend and had a Cat. 11 suite. I just asked one of the Carnival workers that were out front by the long lines and she took us to the front of the line to check us in and then into the building to a seating area to wait to board. Then we were escorted to the security check-in and were on the ship first.

Just ask until you find an employee who knows what Skipper's Club is.

We sailed on the Liberty Dec,05. We were in a suite and entitled to vip check in. we arrived around 9:30 or 10. Few people were in line. We went through the line and when we got to a counter we were escorted to the first seats. We were told this area was for early arrivals. They did keep vip separate from early arrivals by seating area. Once this room filled they sent us through the security check and then on the ship. They handed out sign and sail cards while we were seated. My sister and her husband arrived around 11:30 and stood outside the terminal in a long line.
My take on all this was there were only two security scanners, the thing your bags or personal items go through. The Liberty and Legend can have up to 2,900 plus passengers and that seems ill equipped.

Galveston has a Skippers Club. We are sailing on the Spirt in april out of San Deigo and should receive VIP check in. I wonder how they handle it there?

When we sailed from Ft Lauderdale in 05, we waited outside the termianal and where told by the Carnival workers that there was no vip or skippers club there, even though we had been told and had read other wise. We have been wandering if things had changed or if there was a secret handshake that a person needed to know, lol. By reading the responses it looks as if they have got their act togeather now. We will find out soon enough.

fyi, in, or at least before, in New Orleans, when you walked into the terminal, you asked a securtiy guard and they pointed you to the large sign proclaiming the site of the Skippers Club. Once you entered they took care of everything and escorted you to the camera area for your welcome aboard photo, no lines no waiting no fuss and best of all no guess work. That was pre Katrina.

Again thanks to all who have responed.
