Skipper's Club question

I just booked two cabins on the Holiday, one of which is a cat. 12 suite. The other cabin is a 6C. Can the people in the regular cabin tag along with the others and get checked in with the Skipper's Club? It would be annoying if Carnival made the non-suite members of the party use the regular check-in.

Thanks.

The official answer to your question, is no the 6C can not use the skipper club priority check-in, however it has been know to happen on rare occasions.

I plan to go along anyway. I paid for both cabins, I ought to get some consideration. Plus, with only 8 suites to deal with I can't believe the Skipper's Club rep will be overworked.

It's not a matter of being over worked. It is matter of only those booked in a catagory 11 or 12 suite having access to the skippers club. If you were flying would you expect first class service in coach class because you are traveling with and paid for someone else's first class seat. If you would expect it you would not get it. Why would you expect circumstances to be different just because you are an a cruise ship. Far to many people expect rules should apply differently on cruise ships than any where else. I just am at a loss as to why people feel this way.

Where are you sailing from on the Holiday? There may not even be a Skippers Club like there is in Miami!

I have been in the one in Miami and from my experience...they will not turn your friends away if they are not busy if you explain that you are all traveling together.

Marci: According to what I have read lately, they have brought Skipper to New Orleans too.

Jedger: I am not demanding that they accomodate me. I understand what you are saying. I am looking to see if Carnival will say "well, we don't have to do this but we will to help you out". That is all. If they don't then that's fine. We will all go to the standard check-in line and wait together. But I will remember it. I guess the word I am searching for is "goodwill"....as in "kleeglight buys a lot of cruises from us. We probably ought to show some goodwill and help him out here."

The suite is a surprise for my wife and her mother and my son. I am using the 6C solely as my bedroom (personal reasons for not staying in the suite with the others). I would like to be present when they find out they have gotten the best upgrade you can get on this old ship.

Bad analogy regarding the airline vs cruise line. The flight is already in progress. To be correct, I would have to be on the cruise and expect butler service in my standard cabin (assuming Carnival had butlers). Of course I wouldn't!

A more correct analogy would be if I bought my wife a 1st class airline ticket and I had a coach seat. We go to the airport to check-in and they forced us to split up, with her going to the special 1st class check-in line. In this case, I would still go with her to the 1st class line. In fact, I have done this in a business climate where one guy had enough miles for an upgrade. The airline didn't care.

I guess I should have been clearer in my original post. I am talking about 4 people for the cruise - all one family. Me in the standard cabin, my wife, her mom, and my son in the suite. I am using the standard cabin as an extra bedroom (I snore).

>>Go for it - all they can do is just turn you away.<<

That is what I plan to do! It never hurts to ask. Some people go through life accepting every rule without question. Not me. I have been quite surprised on many occasions when a smile and a polite request has been accomodated.

Just a suggestion Kleeglight, RE: your snoring; go to a sleep clinic! I used to be a terrible snorer; went to the sleep clinic; got a CPAP machine and now I no longer snore. Of course the snoring never bothered me, just everyone else; however if in fact, you have sleep apnea, as I do, there are other health considerations that youi may not be aware of.

Thanks, cruzman. Actually the snoring isn't a big problem; it usually happens on cruises because of the increased alcohol intake (wine with dinner really sets me off). Mostly, I didn't want to share a room with my mother-in-law. She is going on 80 and quite old-fashioned. I didn't want her to be uncomfortable. Plus, a separate cabin gives me a quiet space.....know what I mean? <g>
