NOT slamming them. I have had very good results and service on the 3 cruises I bought.
This is NOT the bargain site it was once. I have previously posted numerous heads ups to be sure to all up everything, auction cost, date premium, cabin upgrade charges and port fees/taxes before bidding and set your maximum bid with these additional costs in mind.
In the past several months I have seen RCI and Celebrity mostly available as “Buy It Now†or with a pretty high minimum bid required. In checking these have generally become as or higher than other on-line cruise purchase sites. HAL offerings became a minimum bid required that also came too close to other on-line cruise purchase sites to be worthwhile. Today I see Carnival, NCL, Princess and even MSC cruises are now offered at auction just like HAL, minimum bid required with the same results, too close to other on-line cruise purchase sites to be worthwhile. This is brand new (over the last 2 weeks or so) for these lines. These seem to be predominantly on the more popular ships, itineraries and newer embarkation ports.
Really short (<1 1 month) departure dates and short (2, 4, 5 day) cruises still appear to be being offered at real (no pre-set minimum bid) auction.
I cannot afford these bottom line prices. My car insurance is up 10%, my home insurance is up 12%, my health insurance is up 11%, my real estate taxes are up 13.5 % this year and due to reappraisal will go up 44% next year, gasoline is up sky high. My annual raises at work have been <5%. The budget is shot.
Guess I will not be cruising anytime soon.
