Smoke on the Glory

Several of the reviews of the Glory complain that the odor of smoke is everywhere -- poor venilation and/or disregard of non-smoking areas. For anyone who has been on the Glory recently-- is this still a problem?

I was on the Glory March of 2004 and for us smoke was not an issue. We are not smokers and do not like the smell of smoke. The only area that I really noticed it was in the casinos and I just avoided that area. I do not gamble so for me that was a problem. I did not have a problem with it anywhere else on the ship. I remember being concerned about that issue when we went but were pleasantly surprised how well ventilated the ship was. It's been a while now since then so I don't know if that's changed recently.

Does GLORY have a special area where cigar and pipe smoking is allowed? NellieB

Yes, all Carnival ships have a "cigar lounge". As a matter of fact, cigar and pipe smoking is not allowed in the cabins, nor anywhere else on the ship, except the balconies.

I've also been on the Glory, and I didn't notice any smoky odor anywhere on the ship. I thought the cigarette smokers were well manner and stayed in the areas that were designated as smoking....which aren't that many. Carnival ships are making less smoking areas that they did in the past.

Of course, you'll always find some CLOD who gets into an elevator with his/her cigarette. There are those crass people everywhere.

Are those "clods" worse than the people who confront them?(guilty)

BlueChef ,

Thank you for your reply! My uncle will be with us for our second week on GLORY and will love having a place to smoke his pipe after dinner. He and my aunt have a balcony BUT he had rather be in an area where it is PERFECTLY all right to smoke his pipe after dinner and not bother anyone!

Thanks again! NellieB

When we were on the Glory last January we were told that you could smoke a Cigar in the cigar lounge or on the open deck. I believe it was on a certain side though.

Defender - LOL, I've been known to express my views a time or two. A questioning smile, and "You know, it's very bad manners to smoke in an elevator." I have gotten my share of glares, but hey, anybody with a lick of sense knows better.
