I always thought that the Starboard side of the outside decks on Carnival ships were smoking however in December on the Inspiration there were ashtrays on both sides of the Lido and people did smoke on both sides.  I did notice that one guy got up and went to the rail when he lit up but most didn't.  There were a couple times there was a breeze that blew the smoke our way but it wasn't to bad.  Also on the Inspiration, the guy in the Piano bar apparently was a no smoker because he had no smoking signs at the bar surrounding the piano. So the piano was the only place in there you could sit without a lot of smoke.  Fortunately there were not a lot of smokers in there when we were there.  We have been in other ship piano bars and found them pretty smoky.  I think this was the preference of the piano player.
