You are correct about the Splendor.This was a ship that was built for Costa. When it was nearing completion....Costa realized they did not have the bookings they needed to supply it...so Carnival stuck a funnel on it and made it a Carnival ship.On this specific ship...Deck 9 (Lido) has the retractable roof...so it is basically 95% an indoor area....this is why there is no smoking allowed on deck 9. However, on deck 10 and 11 outside...smoking is allowed. It was so odd not to have smoking by the pool...but it was because this is considered an indoor space because of the roof.
