Smoking policy

Hi! I was just reading up info on some othe boards and someone mentioned smoking in the staterooms. This is something that I had not thought about prior to booking. Has anyone had any issues with being placed in a stateroom occupied by a smoker just prior. Our son is very asthmatic (we don't travel anywhere without his handy dandy nebulizer.) I really don't want to smell smoke! Any reassurance out there? Thanks!=huh

Hasn't been an issue for us in 17 cruises. I am a former smoker but hate stale cigarette smoke and Susan hates it more than I do. They do a very good job cleaning the cabins and making sure the cabins are fresh and clean when you arrive.

I never had a problem either but I recall being told once to pack a bottle of febreeze just in case you do encounter this problem.

I haven't had a problem but I haven't cruised very extensively either. I have read where if the smell is a problem to let you room steward know when you arrive and they can do some extra cleaning to alleviate any odor.

We have never had a problem personally, but I have read of those who have....although it is very very rare!!!!

It is usually when there has been a cigar smoker or really really heavy chain smokers.

The good news is that there is a remedy that does not require changing cabins.

Should this rare event happen to you, simply find your cabin steward and ask him/her to please do a complete "replacement" of your cabin.

That means replacing all duvets, duvet covers, towels, pillows and can even mean the mattresses if the offensive smell is strong enough. Also ask them to lightly shampoo your carpets (usually takes just a few hours to dry) and then hit the room again with their magic spray.

Sadly it is more work for the cabin steward, but that is only way to fix the problem.
