I have seen in the Caribbean Princess Patters about a "dive shop" on the ship. Has anyone rented equipment for the whole week?

If you plan on renting for the week, you might be better off buying your own. For maybe $15 more, you have equipment to use on the next cruise.

Thanks for your response. We were think of bringing ours, but I didn't want to have to give up valuable shoe room in my suit case!

I would buy my own. We rented on our 1st cruise and 2nd cruise we brought our own. My issue was a hygeine issue. Even though the equipment was sanitized?? I compared it to using another persons toohbrush. There just isn't enough bleach in the world.. :roll JMHO

It's even cheaper at Sport Chalet. I think they have some really decent sets for $30!

I agree with Lady Jag---I would go to the local sporting goods store, where you can try on the face mask and snorkel, since there are a couple of different styles and you can have a choice. There are some really good buys for beginning sets. Also, as a beginner, if you are a good swimmer with a decent kick, you could probably get away with buying just a mask and snorkel---that will be good enough for floating on the surface and some basic free diving. It will save considerable room in your suitcase, and will be something you can add to later if you decide you want the fins.
