This may not help much, but here goes.  We snorkeled in Roatan and it is fabulous.  Visibility is great and so is variety of fish.  We took the tour excursion off the ship for the beach and snorkel tour (don't remember name of it) and bought just the beach part and took our own snorkel gear--it was alot cheaper.  It is definitely worth your while to snorkel in Roatan (didn't seem to be much else to do there) but I don't have much more information to share with you.  Hopefully, someone else will respond with more thorough knowledge of possibilities.
