Along with your soda card you can also purchase a tall, refillable Carnival cup. They are great! My husband got one with his soda card when we were on the Valor earlier this year and it holds about the equivalent of 2 sodas. With the soda card they only give you one soda at a time and it doesn't come in a very large cup. So for a few extra bucks you can get the cup and get twice as much soda at once. It's also great to use for ice tea or their lemonade and fruit punch, which is free. It makes a nice souvenier cup to bring home.
Dont you think that is a little much for a week of soda. How much would a person drink on a seven day cruise? Two or maybe three per day. I dont think that add up to $44.00.
If you are not a big soda drinker then, no, the card is definately not worth buying. But if you are like my husband then it is. He does not drink alcohol, just soda, and the card was a good purchase for him to make. He always has a couple with lunch, a couple with dinner, and one or two here and there with snacks, the buffet, pizza, etc.
I think it's too high! I drink a lot of soda but... the staff isn't always that nice when they find out it's not alcohol that you want. It seems that you pay the big bucks for the soda card but yet it's hard to get the soda? The bar staff seems to hate serving anything but alcohol? I've asked for a large soda but I was told that soda only came in one size? So, I have to keep asking for sodas which drives them crazy and they give me the damn you're buggin me look! So... now we buy just one card and share it between us. I don't think between the 2 of us we would drink $88.00 worth of soda...
There are two solutions to this problem of an expensive Coke card.
A. Carnival lets you bring your own soda onboard. (a reasonable amount) We have always taken 2 12 packs of soda and 1 6 pack of water.
B. You can buy one card and share it. If you are both big soda drinkers, you come closer to getting your money's worth. The down side to that is that the "owner" of the card has to be the one getting the soda and that can be a hassle.
We carry our own onboard along with 2 Carnival mugs.
Itravel with my Mom and we both use the same card. Of course that wouldn’t work if you have John using a card with Mary’s name on it! I wouldn’t mind the high cost of the soda-card if I was receiving the same service that I receive when ordering a drink that contains alcohol. We used to buy two cards but on each and every cruise (no matter the cruise line) we have received poor service while trying to order soda? On our last cruise (not Carnival) the servers ignored you while on deck once they knew you were a soda card holder. They catered to the alcohol drinkers… Does anyone know if the $44.00 covers the tip? Maybe that's the problem?
I know that some of you pack so much that you need all the space in your suitcase for clothes..but, we packed a 12 pack in the bottom of each suitcase on a flight to Miami and it worked with no mishap.
