I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can buy a soda card? If so, how much is it? And would you suggest purchasing 1 or 2 (for 2 people)?

Thanks!!

On the Golden, the price was $22.50. This was for a 7 day cruise. The longer the cruise, the higher the price.

Stickers are per person. So if you have two people that want sodas, buy two stickers.

Yep.. what Pea said. Its been 2 years since I sailed with Princess, but that price sounds about right. It is a sticker that goes on your cruise card, so you each need to purchase one. Its definitely cheaper than buying the cans all week if you consume a lot of soda. RCI's price is $48 for a week... that is too much, in my opinion.

sorry I can't remember Nat....but rcl's price was no way that high.
I could guess $25 for a 7 day.
can't see the price has increased that much since we sailed in Dec.
there is no way my m-i-l would of paid that much. she would of done without..
I certainly didn't pay that for my 3 kids.
Just so people don't get the wrong idea.

Unfortunately dreamer, my info is correct.... here it is straight from the RCI site (do a search for "soda" at their website to read all the details, this is only for soda, not alcoholic beverages).

************************************************************************
"Adults' Fountain Soda / Juice Package:

This package entitles guests 18 years of age and older to unlimited consumption of fountain sodas (no cans) and juices at all bars and lounges, Windjammer, Main Dining Room and Private Destinations (CocoCay and Labadee®).
This package is available for purchase on the day of embarkation at all bars and lounges and may be charged to your SeaPass account. After this package has been purchased, a sticker will be placed on your boarding card allowing you to consume fountain sodas (no cans) and juices throughout your cruise. A complimentary Coca Cola souvenir cup is included as part of the package.

Juices that are included in this package are orange juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice and cranberry juice.

The cost of the package is $6.00 per person, per day, and is applicable to the total days of the cruise vacation. A 15% gratuity charge will be added."

************************************************************************
So.... if you do the math.... $6.00 per day x 7 days + 15% gratuity = $48.30 for one adult. The kids package reads the same, with the exception of the cost per day being $4.00.
As far as I know, though... Princess' is not as pricey.

We just returned from Golden Princess.

$22,50 + service charge.

Only buy one per family the staff aint bothered. We were shy at first and passed the card around as they do dot pay attention. In the end we just asked for 2 large cokes or what ever

Nat's info. is definitely right about RCI's soda sticker program. IMO, it's a big rip. Princess' was only $25 for 10 nights, (like E said above), and they were actually NICE about giving you drinks the majority of the time. On RCI and Carnival, we've had some pretty rude bartenders. Also, with Princess, you can request a very large glass of soda which sure beats the tiny glasses that we've had on RCI and Carnival. :)

Look lets end this,

You do not NEED to buy more than one sticker.

You do not NEED to buy any!

You may waste money and buy one per person, but it is not necessary I can vouch for that

If you feel obliged to buy one per person OK its your call all I point out is that as good a value as they are at 22 50 they are even better value @ 22 50 for in our case 4 adults.

I got tonic every nite to put in my gin that I "smuggled" aboard. I guess that is against your rules too as Princess say they "confiscate" spirits. I can say we carried 2 bottles in brown paper bags had then x rayed and nothing was said

Let's see--
I take the family of five kids to the local Chinese buffet. I say, "One child, please." Then we get the kid to go and get food for everyone. Afterwards, we go to the movies. I buy one ticket, and then sneak the rest of the kids in thru the exit at the back of the theater. Makes for a cheap night out. You're right: you don't NEED a soda card for each person, and there are lots of other ways to cheat "the system," too.

We're a family of 4; we buy 4 soda stickers. It's still cheaper than what we'd pay if we paid for the soft drinks individually because we drink a lot. It's easy to fit in the budget if you plan ahead - it's a "known" expense. If you don't have the stickers, who knows how much you'll spend each day for the entire cruise? I think it just makes life a little easier, but to each his own. Not everyone drinks as much Coke as we do when on vacation.

The worst part about the soda stickers is getting home from vacation and realizing you can't use them in the drive thru! :grin :grin

I was advised to buy soft drinks in port and bring it on board with us when we embark. Our friend said that she saw a family with cases of Coca Cola with them as they boarded. We only need about eight 2-litre bottles for the 7-day cruise which is about $10 as my husband and I love Pepsi One in the afternoon.

I just returned from Western Caribbean on board Caribbean Princess. The ship will sell you one sticker per person, but you don't need to. Buy one sticker, period. The only disadvantage is that you cannot order more than one soda at the same time at the same place. But for the saving if you have more than one kids, the bar hopping exercise is worth it. The bartender does not check the details on the card. I saw girls using boys' cards, and vice verse. They all got their drinks. Oh yes, the soda card also gets you Shirley Tempo if you want a change.

If you are not a heavy soda drinker, buy a few 2-litre bottles of your favorites in port. You will appreciate the saving. Bring the drink to the dinning room, the waiter won't question about it (they will fear that you will give them bad comments and remove the pre-paid tips).

Why do you guys get so upset. Its not costing YOU money when I do not buy a card per person, All I point out is that if you want to buy a card each go for it, I will not waste money unnecessarily, and will swap the card amongst us.
