Find out how many other ships will be in port at the same time as you are. That will make a real difference as to whether or not an excursion is 'sold out'. If your ship is the only one it town - you're fairly safe to wait until you get there. But if there are 3 other ships in town - book ahead!There should be a site for Skagway's Visitor's and / or Convention Center. If you can find it, see if there is a link to "Cruise Ships" and look for the Cruise Ship calendar for the date you will be visiting. That will tell you how many ships are in that day.
