Hi all.... we're currently researching our 2nd cruise. First one was way back in 8/02 to the eastern Caribbean on the Celebrity Century. So we have 2 young kids now and my 14 year old brother we'll be taking along to help out. We're thinking of the Norwegian Sun for 4/08, it's going to Roatan, Belize city, Costa Maya and Great Stirup Cay. Anyone have any advice on the ship or the ports? What about shore excursions? Keep in mind we'll be bringing young kids, so no scuba diving, lol. Any advice is welcome.... THANKS! :thumb

Did the same cruise a couple of years ago, but with no kids and bad weather. First stop, Cayman's, was cancelled. Second stop, Roatan, had rain ALL day, so we didn't get off the ship. Been to Belize several times. Not a port that you can just get off and walk around. If Mayan ruins excites you, Cahal Pech in Belize is breath-taking. Not as great as Tulum or Chichen Itza, but we loved it. Might not work for kids because of the long busride. Costa Maya is nice all the way around, but after Hurricane Dean, there may be some cancelled stuff. YOu might want to check with NCL on the status. The ship itself was very nice. Hope you have a good time.

We actually watched a show on the travel channal last night about Belize and we're so not impressed with it. So I don't think we'll be going with this cruise. Off to research some more...

Thanks for your help by the way! :)

I would suggest a 7-day that leaves out of Miami or Ft. Laud and goes to Cozumel, Caymans and Ocho Rios. You would enjoy that one much better with youngsters in tote. If you can leave the children with someone on board (they do have a sitter service), take your brother and do Stingray City in the Caymans, and Dunns in Ocho Rios. Your brother will owe you for life!
