MIAMI, Oct 12, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Royal Caribbean
Cruises Ltd. announced today that Royal Caribbean International's Sovereign of
the Seas will be reassigned to the company's Pullmantur fleet, and the Los
Angeles- based Monarch of the Seas will assume Sovereign of the Seas' sailings
out of Port Canaveral. These changes will take place in October and November
2008.

"We are fortunate that our mix of brands allows us the flexibility and
opportunity to expand in key strategic markets and to diversify in existing
ones," said Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Adam Goldstein. "We
thank our partners at the ports of Los Angeles, Ensenada, Catalina and San Diego
for our outstanding and ongoing relationship. We look forward to providing our
Monarch of the Seas guests with exceptional vacations as we visit those
locations through next fall."

Sovereign of the Seas' last scheduled sailing for Royal Caribbean International
will be on October 31, 2008. Two subsequent cruises, scheduled for November 3
and 7, will be canceled, and guests booked on those cruises will receive a full
refund and an onboard credit for rebooking an earlier Sovereign of the Seas
sailing during 2008 (excluding holidays). All rebookings must be made by
December 31, 2007. All guests currently booked on Sovereign of the Seas on or
after November 10, 2008, will be re-accommodated onboard Monarch of the Seas.

Monarch of the Seas will make its last regularly scheduled sailing out of Los
Angeles on October 13, 2008. All guests currently booked on a subsequent sailing
will receive a full refund and an onboard credit for rebooking a three, four or
five-night Caribbean sailing, or a seven-night Mexican Riviera sailing, onboard
Royal Caribbean International in 2008 (excluding holidays). All rebookings must
be made by December 31, 2007.

On October 17, 2008, Monarch of the Seas will reposition to the East Coast when
it departs Los Angeles on a 16-night Panama Canal cruise to Miami. The ship will
then undergo a scheduled, weeklong dry-dock before welcoming its first Port
Canaveral guests for three and four-night Bahamas sailings starting November 10,
2008.

Royal Caribbean International has established a special help desk to assist its
guests and travel agents impacted by these changes. The toll free phone number
is 1-888-281-9344.

It makes me sad to think about my beloved Sovereign leaving RCCL. :(
So many wonderful memories on that ship....

I too am sad to see her go. Though I didn't get to actually sail on her, I almost feel like I did by watching her remodeling on the Travel Channel. And, everyone I know who did go onboard her had nothing but good things to say about her. I sure hope this 'Monarch of the Seas' will be as good.

Anyone have any feedback on the Monarch that they can share?

Monarch is basically the same exact ship......I've been on both.............so it is an equal replacement...

Obvious question: who or what is Pullmantur? They're getting the Empress (I think I read that before) and now the Sovereign. Are they another choice for cruiseline? Do they have any cruises that leave out of Florida?

So, it sounds like RCCL is no longer going to offer the 3 and 4 day cruises out of Los Angeles? Because that's Monarch's current schedule. How sad! That only leaves Carnival for a weekend get away and although I've done both there is a different "air" on the RCCL cruise. Even a 3-day. Good thing I've already booked one for January.

Our trip on the Souv was horrible last week. The food in the windjammer was disgusting, cold, not well prepared, seemed liked warmed overs; cabin was tiny with lots of rust throughout; entertainment was poor and not good at all. Glad to be seeing her go.

Some see the glass half full, some half empty...........you can have many different points of view even on the same cruise.........

I have been on the SS 15 times with a few more planned before she leaves......

Sorry you folk out west wont have a short RCCL cruise for awhile or for however long......

I hope RCCL doesn't stop the short cruises out of LA. Mariner of the Seas is moving to LA so maybe Vision will be assigned the short routes? Hope so.

The Vision is moving to the Caribbean when the Mariner comes to Los Angeles. RCI has no immediate plans to replace the Monarch.

Sorry you didn't like SOS Karin but I still love her. We got off her on Monday and I loved the entire trip. I've also sailed this ship more then 12 times(lost count) so I know exactly what to expect. She's a classy old lady and I'll be sad to see her go. I'm going on her at least 1 or 2 more times before she's gone.

Lots of the crew are trying to transfer to Majesty, in fact some already have. Guess they are trying to stay with their "family."

LA is getting Mariner and we're getting nothing in her place at least for now. We'll have to see what happens when the next couple of ships are done.
