Although she's the oldest ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet, I always hear good reports on Sovereign of the Seas. I haven't been on her for years but she did have a major refurbishment in 2004.
At 73,192 tons She was the largest ship cruising when she joined the Royal Caribbean fleet in 1987. She was much larger than the 47,262 ton Holiday which entered service in 1986 and sister ship Celebration which also entered service in 1987. Even the eight 70,367 ton Fantasy class ships Carnival built between 1990 and 1998 were still slightly smaller than Sovereign of the Seas. It wasn't until 1997 that Grand Princess claimed the largest ship honors at 109,000 tons.
