Specialty restaurants

As far as I know, the Galaxy does not have a specialty restaurant. Is that strictly because it is a smaller ship and there isn't room or is there another reason?

It wasn't in the plans for this ship, and they haven't converted any space for it. Some ships we've been on (that are of the same size as Galaxy and also built before the rise in the specialty restaurant) they convert part of the buffet seating area in the evenings to become the specialty restaurant... they put table cloths over the regular tables, and rope off the space. To me, it appeared pretty tacky, but it seems to work for some pax. I haven't heard of any plans to add specialty restaurant venues to any of the Century class ships, but we shall see.

I haven't been on it yet, but I understand the Century has converted the Sky Bar to an "alternate, open-seating" restaurant. Reservations are required, and seating is from 6:30 - 8:30. From what I have heard, entrees are delivered to the table, but salads and desserts are obtained via buffet line. I don't know if it is the same menu as the Grand Dining Room, or if it is a simplified fare. I don't believe it costs any more (I could be wrong about that), but you definitely have to tip the waiters each evening,.

Good luck,
Bill

Bill, I remember seeing that too on the deck plan. The Sky Bar was very small.
