Anyone else going on this cruise? Maybe come of you can answer a couple questions for me. We've sailed on HAL 3 times and were loyal to the line until they imposed the $10.00 tip on your bill. So we figured if they are going to treat us like other lines, maybe we should try other lines. So we are on NCL Spirit for 12/3/04. Are there many kids on NCL? HAL does not cater to children and that's one of the things we liked about them. Not to be mean, but we've put in our time raising kids and baby-sitting grandkids. This is OUR time, not a family vacation. I don't want to have to fight my way into the hot tub through a group of 10 year olds with no parental supervision. My parents have been on NCL and said that most of the time the kids are in their own area with their own pool. Is this true? I've got two kids, so I know how they can be. I just hate to have our vacation ruined by dozens of kids running wild. From everything I've read, NCL seems like a good choice for us. Not the party boat of Carnival and not quite as stuffy as HAL. Anyone have any other comparisons between NCL and HAL - good or bad? We're really looking forward to experiencing a new line and ship.

The Spirit has a large area for kids with their very own swimming pool, thus they are usually out of the way.... And I think Norwegian will be the right choice.....not a party boat nor stuffy..... Plus the Spirit has a large casino for its size.... While others don't like the mandatory tip, I found it much more convenient to have it charge to my account than attempting to fill envelopes the last night......

We will be on this cruise - two ladies who are experienced cruisers from Maryland. It is our first cruise on NCL. We wanted something reasonably priced and a little glitzy but not too kid intense or sedate. Looking forward to the Freestyle experience. The islands are mostly new to us too.
