Splendor - Good Cruise, Ugly Ship

Just got off the 'alternate' cruise on the Splendor to Astoria, Victoria Canada and Vancouver Canada. I really loved my usual Carnival service and had a balcony room at the very port side aft which had a huge double balcony. WOW, is the inside of the Splendor butt-ugly! After two days you will be sick of pink zebra striped polka dots because that's the main decor deck after deck, stairway after stairway. It is a gay mans design from hell.

There is a complete and disastrous obsession with the Spa9 on Splendor. In the gym the windows do not even go high enough for you to be on the machines to look out the windows. There is no access to the bow of the ship at all like the other ships. A nice feature is the adult only deck area with special padded lounge chairs and private bar.

I don't know about the rest of you but I absolutely despise the Spa and Beauty consultants. They remind me of timeshare salespeople. Cute, British babes trying to sell you every wax and creme service (without a happy ending). I am also sick and tired of the Cruise Directors peddling their surveys at the end of the cruises (this sell service seems to be ONLY with Carnival). The Cruise Directors lie to you and tell you that they are in competition with other ships in the fleet and then snow you into marking the survey in places you never had anything to do with like Camp Carnival. All they are trying to do here is line their pockets with extra cash given to them by Carnival when their customer satisfaction scores are high.

Just curious, what is the source of your bad attitude? Every cruise on which I've sailed, there has been an emphasis on getting good passenger reviews because that is primarily how the crew's performance is measured. If you mean by "lining their pockets with extra cash", that they aspire to get ahead in their profession, I see absolutely nothing wrong with that! On the contrary, were it not for the desire to succeed, service would not be as good as it is. Oh yeah, if the decor is a "gay man's design from hell", I probably would like it!
