SS United States Question

We are going on the Infinity this Friday to Alaska on our first cruise.

First question: When do you think is the best night to have dinner in the SS United States, keeping in mind that we don't want to miss the formal evenings in the Trellis?

My second question is: Would it be OK to bring our own bottle of wine into the SS United States and pay the corking fee? I am partial to Vintage South African red wines, but I don't think they have much of a selection of them on board.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry can't help with the timing on the Alaska trip but your'e Ok with the wine. Get it to the staff at the restaurant earlier in the day. It's a great experience but between you and me... the food was just as good (or better) in the main room when we went.

My experience on two other Celebrity Speciality restaurants was not the same as bseabob. . The food was average in the main restaurant served for 2000 people while the speciality restaurants food was excellent and well worth the extra money. We met people who ate at the speciality restaurant seven out of the ten nights .

Great presentation and great food and an especially great cheese trolley.

We ate at the SS United States this past week. We chose to make our reservation on one of the Informal nights. It was after a day in port (Skagway) where we had to be back on the ship by 7:30 pm anyway. We made our reservation for 8:30.

We chose wine off of their menu, so I can't help with your second question. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't bring your own wine if that's what you prefer. Just know they may charge you their uncorking fee.

Dinner and service there were wonderful, by the way!

We usually eat in the speciality restaurant on one of the Informal nights also and we really enjoy the food and the service :)
I see no reason why you can't take in your own wine either :)
Hope you enjoy it as much as we always have. :)

In response to your question, you should eat in the speciality resturant any night other than the formal night ( this is at your request but any night is fine)........highly suggest when you make your reservations you ask to eat in the wine room ...and your request will be granted but dependent upon who else asks for it that evening. They like to get at least 8 at the table in that room and it definitiely adds a differnet dimension to our eating experience. The wine shouild be no problem but expect to pay the corkage fee.

Under the everyone is different , we always eat in the speciality resturant on the first formal night which is the second night on the ship and again we pick Thursday night on a seven day cruise just to space out our two dining experience. On ten and eleven night cruises we usually dine at the speciality resturant three nights.
