Taking Carnival to two ports we have not been to yet. St Maarten and St Thomas. Would like some input on excursions any of you have enjoyed.

There is a nice quite beach in St. Martin that I went to last time. It is Maho Beach, sometimes referred to as Sunset Beach ...

A must for St Thomas is Paradise Point. Take a cab up there in the evening to watch the sunset. It's beautiful. There are a few shops up there and a bar. Have a Bushwhacker and watch the sunset. This place over looks the pier and you look down over the ships. So not only do you see the sunset but as it begins to get dark the ships light up. Just a tip, I believe it's $8 to take the tram up to Paradise Point. If you take a cab, it's only about $3 I think. You can then take the tram down for free.

I concur with the Lord Sheffield. We took it this past July and my family had a blast. Great BBQ ribs on the ship. Was a little rough on the way back but my son had a blast. Wished we could have stayed longer snorkeling but I would say by family vote it was our best excursion for our trip.

You have to visit Paradise Point for the view. It is awesome. My DH would love to just spend the entire stay there. A Bushwacker is a must too.

Take a taxi up. The line for the tram is long going up. Then take the tram down after your stay.

I laugh when I think of our last cruise to St Thomas. It was my brother's first cruise and we told him and his wife about Paradise Point. We got off the ship and he saw that line. He said there's no way in "heck" he's waiting in that line. I was ecstatic - I hate level cable cars, so we grabbed a taxi (junta). Have you ever rode a taxi up a curving and steep (very steep) mountain road? Think beep, beep then a blind curve then another beep, beep and another blind curve. When we got to the top he said there's no way in "heck" he's going back down in a taxi.

We spent the day drinking Bushwackers and enjoying the view. We saw a few rain showers come thru quickly and bought a few items. It was an awesome day. We took the cable cars down - I think there was a cost. It was a smooth ride. A taxi down is scary - we've done that before.

In St Maarten we took a taxi to a beach - next to Orient Beach - the clothing optional beach It was a nice beach but very windy that day. I think there was a hurricane somewhere. The sand hurt when it hit your body. We then took a taxi downtown to where the ship was docked and did some shopping. It was a great day. Next time we'll check out Maho Beach. We didn't have time on that trip.

We took the Carnival excursion that took us on both the French and Dutch sides of the islands. We enjoyed seeing the differences.

Magen's Bay is beautiful on St. Thomas and I agree that Paradise point is a must see. It wasn't until our second time to St. Thomas that we took a Carnival excursion to St. John's for snorkeling in Trunk Bay, which was also beautiful.
