We're cruising aboard the Princess Golden 4/19 and stopping at St. Marten. Any suggestions for activities? Anybody try the Rhino Ryder boats from Simpson Bay Lagoon? Is there shopping near the pier?

Bevard - we love St. Martin! It is our second favorite island after St. Lucia! You can easily walk to the shopping from the pier (about a 15 minute walk) or you can take the water taxi from the pier to the shopping in Phillipsburg. The water taxi is $5 per person and you can ride all day. Right outside the shopping district next to where you get off of the water taxis is Everything's Cool beach. Be sure to try the big black banana drink! Yummm!

Orient Beach, on the French side, is absolutely beautiful! You can rent chairs and umbrellas. They also have parasailing, water trampoline's etc. Just note that Orient Beach is a clothing optional beach.

You'll love the Golden! We cruised on her last year and it was that cruise that got us addicted! What a fabulous cruise! You will have a great time!

:wave Bon Voyage!!!!

I can only recommend you a few stuff. First of all, rent a car! You can drive around the island in less than hour and you have some beautiful landscape on the way, and you can get around easier. Amongst things to do: Sunbathing at Orient bay (love that beach!!!), very lively. If you want to avoid the naked people (there is nudist colony at the southern end of the beach but people love to take a walk along the beach), Baie Rouge is as beautiful . Marigot has some upscale shopping, have a drink in one of the bars of marina Port-La-Royale, go visit Fort-St-Louis in Marigot and have a better view of the island and the other islands surrounding St-Martin, eat at grand case, see the planes on aproach at Maho Beach, shop in duty-free Philipsburg, go to the Butterfly farm...
If you go to my site, I talk extensively about St-Martin but you can also go to http://www.sxmfriends.com/6/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=6126044112 . it's a St-Martin dedicated board. But if you browse in the reviews on this site, I am sure you can find a lot.

We did the butterfly farm tour. It was really great! The tour included sight seeing over most of the island.

Try Caribbean Duck Tours. Right on the beach. Walk past Bobby's Marina (where the water taxi stops) Wlak along the beach and you'll run right into it...two minutes or so. Food, Live island entertainment. (great frozen drinks) The tour is great, the vehicle turns into a boat. drives right into the sea...Live entertainment on the duck boat.
