Looking to do a mono hull day sail while in port in St. Thomas on the Mariner. If any one has some recommendations that would be great. Found a lot on line but thought a referral might be the best way to start the serach.
Already registered for the America's Cup in St. Maaratin...a must do again and again and again.

I know this is way too late for the original poster, but for anyone looking for a daysail out of St. Thomas, I highly recommend the s/v Independence. My wife and I have sailed with Pat twice (during stays on St. Thomas), and if/when we have occasion to take a day sail from St. Thomas again, we'll look her up first.

The Independence is a beautiful, comfortable 44' ketch, very clean and well-maintained. Pat is very easy-going and will do her best to accommodate your wishes for the day, although sailboats are, of course, constrained somewhat by the wind conditions of the day. There was a different crew member for each of our trips, but both were excellent, providing great service (lunch and beverages), providing snorkeling tours, etc.

The Independence operates under a "six-pack" license, accommodating up to six passengers. On both of our visits we signed up for a day, and ended up with two other couples (making a full complement) on one trip and just one other couple on the other. The boat is plenty roomy for six and positively spacious for four.

I prefer these "six-pack" charters to the larger group charters that are often available: with the smaller boat, you can usually find a quiet bay for swimming or snorkeling with relatively few other people around, and the snorkeling is much more pleasant without a crowd.
