How easy is it to get transport to Magens Bay and Coral World?
We are a party of nine and would like to know if prebooking is essential or is
there plenty of transport waiting to go back to the ships.
If anyone has any names of reputable mini bus/taxi firms.we would be very
grateful for the information.

Many thanks in advance

When you get off the ship in St Thomas, there will be more taxis, open air buses and vans than you can count. Many will be going to just Magens Bay and when you get to Magens Bay there will be many forms of transportation to take you back to town or the ship. I believe the cost is $6 one way. There are so many asking you if you need a ride, that it is almost annoying.

When we first arrived in St Thomas (my favourite port) we randomly chose a tour guide who happened
to have been Mr. St. Thomas 15 years before. His truck is bright red and detailed with his picture on it. He was the best tour guide and it was $20/person.

Most of the taxis are the open air type and you could easily get one to take just your group of nine. I would
recommend a tour of the island if you haven't been before and when we saw Magens Bay from above
WOW. Our tour guide dropped us in town for shopping then we returned to the ship and changed
into our bathing suits and headed for Magens Bay.

This was Jan 02. We were there about 1.5 hours and had a great time. The weather was perfect and it was not crowded. It really is a beautiful beach.

Enjoy.

Thanks for your info and kind thoughts, there will be two children in our party who will really
go ballistic if we spend too much time shopping. I believe there isa shopping mall near
the ship,it might be better to go there just before we board

The children will enjoy riding those open-air vans on St. Thomas - some parts are like roller-coaster rides. Also recommend taking the gondolas up to Paradise point, where you get a great view of St. Thomas and the cruise ship in port. The shopping near the port is the usual: T-shirts, mugs, jewelry.

OK, I am going to give you some great advice.

We were a party of 11. Everyone had different ideas as to what they wanted to do while in St. Thomas.

So, I hired a 15 passenger van and driver for the entire day to take all of us or some of us anywhere we wanted to go.

Total cost was $25 per person.

We went to the top of the mountain (a must) fantastic views of St Thomas, megans bay and surrounding islands

Went to Megan's bay

Coki Beach

Lunch at the "Love Shack"

Shopping (regular)

Shopping at a craft fair (flea market)

Sight-seeing tour

We were picked up a 10am when we docked and were dropped off at 5pm at the ship

While some of us snorkeled at Coki beach, he took others for more extensive shopping.

The name of the outfit is "Godfrey Tours"

Thanks for all the brilliant advice I've had, this site takes all the hassle out of cruising,
especially when you can find the best people to deal with, must say cruising is
getting a lot more popular in the U.K.now,hope that doesn't mean we have to
book even earlier.
Cheers and thanks again
