St. Thomas or St. Martin Beach?

My husband and I just booked the Carnival Valor for June 1, 2008. We have been to St. Thomas and St. Martin several times, but have never spent time at a beach. Any recommendations for beaches on either of these islands? Would like a beach where we could rent lounge chairs, beach umbrella, have a place for food and drinks nearby, and also restrooms. Thanks for your suggestions!

In St. Maarten, I would recommend Orient Beach. St. Thomas has so many choices!! My top three would be Magen's Bay, Coki Beach, or Sapphire Beach. From St. Thomas, you could also take the Ferry over to St. John, and visit Trunk Bay, which is fabulous!! Enjoy your planning!!

I like Maho Bay in St. Maarten because it is so nice and quiet ...

Thanks Jamman & Cruizer for your replies. The pictures from Maho Beach are awesome, but do the chair rentals come with ear plugs?:lol My DH isn't much of a beach person, but maybe the airplanes landing literally over your head may interest him.

Okay, here is some more info for you ...

The Sunset Beach Bar is right next door to the beach.

Note how the woman can get free drinks. That might interest your husband.

I cruised that itinerary on the Valor in March...had a great time! The ship is great and the ports were awesome! I went to Orient Beach in St. Maarten and thought it was one of the nicest beaches I've ever been too. Absolutely beautiful calm blue waters, great sand, and dozens of beach bars with servers to bring you drinks as you lounge. What else can you ask for? Can't wait to get back to that beach!! Beware though...it is on the French side of the Island, so there is some nudity....not much, and mostly contained to one end of the beach.

Went to Megan's Bay Beach in St. Thomas and wasn't really impressed.....thought the water was kind of dirty and the sand was rocky. Only one bar and drinks were very expensive. I'll definitely try another beach next time I visit St. Thomas.

Have fun and njoy the Valor!!!
