St. Thomas

Have all day in port in November, on the RCI Serenade.

Have already been to Magen's Bay, and am thinking about doing the Water Island Bike Tour excursion, or taking a cab to Sapphire beach. The excursion is $66 through RCI, and I understand you could do it on your own, but we will be in port on a Sunday so the ferry schedule is minimal.

My question: I think if I don't do the excursion I will regret it. Has anyone done it, or know anyone that has? Just want a better idea of if it's worth it.

I know St. John's is supposed to be nice, but I'll get there someday. I really want to know more about this tour!

It's always so HOT in St. Thomas that we stay near the water. Sapphire is really nice if you are looking for a great beach with decent snorkeling and a nice beach bar. It would be very easy to spend the day there, and be very comfortable.

We went to Magen's Bay and to COki Beach and last year, and enjoyed COki Beach much more. Didn't get to Sapphire.

Have read somewhere it might be cool in St. Thomas in December. Does anyone know if that is true??? We want to snorkle when we are there but don't know if the air temp and/or water temp will be too cool.

December weather in St. Thomas is cool??? Temps there are in the 80's or low 90's year round. Of course it can drop into the 60's at night in the mountains occasionally.

On our last cruise to St. Thomas we did the "Sea Trekin'" excursion when you go underwater with a helmet on that is connected to an air hose so you can breath freely. It was so exciting to see all the fish up close and the tour guides let us hold all sorts of sea urchins. We had a great time. I would highly reccomend as an alternative to scuba diving.

Have fun!

Also sailing Serenade Nov 29.

St. thomas can be alot of fun if you know where to go but if you are in port for over 7 hours you can do a whole lot of things. Most all of the beaches have rentals. Lived on Water Island for a while and ya better eat your Wheaties because it is a tall hill from the ferry dock or Honeymoon beach if thats what they still call it. Morning star is cool, Coki is some of the best snorkeling, Megans used to be the nicest and during Hurricane season you can surf sometimes but waves break on the beach ouch. Subbase is a fishing area as well as red hook, French town is a good place to get a bowl of Bulls foot soup or ox tail yum. THe weather pretty much stays in the upper 70's low 80's most of the time, sometimes at night depending on the ocean breeze it can get a bit nippy so take a sweater or something with you. Supermarkets are the place to buy your rum, it used to be 1.75 a 5th for bay rum but probably a bit higher now. Stay off the backstreets at night by the water front.
