We were there about two years ago. The island is lush, green, and hilly. The people were very friendly. The island is one of the few, if not the only one to have a small population of Caribe Indians, outside the island of Dominica. It was one of the last islands to be colonized by the Europeans. The language is English and the capital city is Kingstown. (local people like it to be pronounced exactly that way, not Kingston) There is a tropical botanical garden there dating back to 1765. St. Vincent reminds me a lot of Grenada. Very pretty.
A hurricane had hit the place a few months before we were there and a lot of shops, etc. were not open. It is not a touristy place like most of the other Islands but is definitely worth a stop.
We took a tour with 4 other people in a van with a driver and tour guide. Someone produced a big bottle of white rum and we had the driver stop for some mix and we all proceeded to have a great time. The tour guide was into the rum with us and her favorite word was "yep". Over here is the church, etc,etc "yep". "yep", that was the church.
She was a ball in herself.
I would love to go back. Go and enjoy.
